Technical Diving - Requirements

Technical Diving - Requirements The nature of Technical Diving requires divers to have advanced training and lots of experience. Do you have what it takes to be a technical diver? Take a look at some factors needed before you can go on a technical dive:

Age, Level of Fitness, and Mental Readiness

In general, there is an age requirement in Technical Scuba Diving. In most training agencies, you can qualify if you are 18 years old and above.

Just like in other Scuba Diving Variations, you must be in good average health. Remember that this is a physically-demanding activity. You should be fit enough to endure fatigue during deep dives. Keep in mind that technical dives are long and deep dives, so make sure that your body will be able to keep up with the pressure changes and other factors in the environment.

Being physically ready is definitely not enough. You should bear in mind that this is a highly specialized type of Diving. You need to understand that you will be in danger in case anything goes wrong. That is why proper training, preparation, and planning are mandatory prior to a technical dive. Having the right attitude and commitment to learn something as challenging as Technical Diving will also help should you pursue higher and advanced training.

Training

For safety and enjoyment purposes, understanding the nature of Technical Diving is very important. The designed courses will teach you the use and nature of nitrox and trimix. You will also understand the proper use of specialized Diving Gear and Equipment. Likewise, you will learn a lot of technical information and different necessary procedures, skills, and techniques such as decompression planning and how to cope with possible situations during the technical dive.

Technical Diving is highly specialized. No beginner can be allowed to go on a technical dive. There is a lot that one should know and it entails proper advanced training and preparation. Nonetheless, it is very rewarding. Aside from the fact that it will give you a lot of opportunities, what you will learn in Technical Diving can be useful in other forms of Scuba Diving.
