Scuba Sets - Diving Regulators
Another component of Scuba Sets is the Diving Regulator. This regulates the amount of breathing gas supplied to the Diver from the Diving Cylinder. It decreases the air pressure from the Diving Cylinder at a breathable rate for the Diver.
Here are some things worth-knowing about Diving Regulators:
- Two stage, single hose is a standard unit of Diving Regulators. The single hose is the basic breathing unit, while two stage is the Diving Cylinder pressure which is reduced in two stages in order to reach the pressure at which the Diver breathes it.
- The first stage is a valve which reduces the pressure of the Diving Cylinder from 200 bar to a pressure which is higher than the ambient pressure on the lungs at depth (10 - 13 bar).
- On the other hand, the second stage valve transports the gas from the hose to where it is needed.
Demand valve second stage - This has the low pressure hose which passes over the shoulder of the Diver. There is a purge button located at the front which opens the inlet valve, enabling air to flow freely and clear water out of the second stage. The exhaust valve at the back leads the exhaust bubbles on either side.
Manually-operated second stage - This mechanism is used in inflation valves of BC and Rebreather loop.
The Diving Regulator is a very important piece of Diving Gear and Equipment, so you really need to know how this works. Learn how to operate your Diving Regulator together with the Diving Cylinder.
