In the recent issue of the Journal of Experimental Biology, a study shows that coral reef fish is capable of color vision.
The researchers trained a number of freshly-caught damselfish to tap a color stimulus with their mouths at least ten times. After which, a reward was given using a feeding tube.
The researchers used two sets of experiments, the blue and yellow stimuli of different shades. They were able to conclude that the fish can differentiate what is blue and yellow.
Another sign of the conclusive test of color vision of the fish was that the experimented ones responded regardless of the brightness of the stimulus.
