After discovering a wine-carrying ship which is believed to be over 2000 years old, expert divers and marine archaeologists will remove sand and silt burying the hull of the cargo ship in June.
The ship was believed to be carrying wine from the Aegean island of Chios when it sank off the southern coast of Cyprus.
Experts found it unusual that the vessel was discovered at a depth of just 144 feet and roughly 1 1/2 miles from the coastline. Also, it was one of the very few ships from the late Classical period that was discovered in excellent condition.
