WEDNESDAY, 29 AUGUST 2007
The body of 53-year old Kenneth Gessinger Jr, who went missing while scuba diving, was recovered from the Atlantic Ocean last Sunday. His identity was confirmed by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office Monday.
Gessinger's body was found about 13 miles offshore, and was recovered by a diving team and marine unit from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard. Gessinger was diving with his 14-year old son, Kenneth III, on August 18. Gessinger and his son surfaced on the water. His son was picked up by his mother, Cheri, and sister, Angela. Gessinger, however, went missing.
Accidental drowning was ruled as the cause of Gessinger's death by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office.
