Newaygo County - Thirty-six year old Todd Thompson from Muskegon has saved a 12-year-old boy's life, who got into a scuba diving accident on Baptist Lake in southeastern Newaygo County.
After a fishing trip, Thompson was notified of a scuba diving accident about 100 yards offshore. The boy was diving on the lake, when his air supply was interrupted. Thompson did CPR on the boy after he was found in 17 feet of water. "He was in trouble, I did what I could," said Thompson.
The boy was sent to Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids, after rescue personnel took over doing CPR. "If it wasn't for the efforts of the boater, it is believed that the victim would not have survived the diving accident," Newaygo County state police troopers said.
