Scuba Diver Saves 15 year old Boy
FRIDAY, 29 JUNE 2007
A fifteen year old boy whose name was not released yet was saved by a scuba diver, Tuesday. The boy jumped into Lake Champlain and sunk to the bottom in twenty feet of water.
Andrew Richarson was helping lead a group of diving students near the fishing pier on the Burlington waterfront when he heard cries from the pier. He searched for the missing boy and found him underwater, motionless and unblinking. After they gave the latter a CPR the boy finally regained consciousness.
Burlington firefighters were on the scene within minutes. Burlington Fire Battalion Chief Terry Francis said it would have been impossible for a person without diving gear to retrieve the boy.
