Scientists Are On for an Arctic Ocean Expedition
TUESDAY, 26 JUNE 2007
An Arctic Ocean expedition will commence on July 1.
What seemed impossible before will be realized next month as an international team of scientists will head for the freezing and isolated Arctic Ocean. Equipped with high technology robotic equipment, the team will explore the Gakkel Ridge with the aims of hunting for a sign of life.
The expedition was formulated and acknowledged after some scientists gained evidences which suggested that spots along this ridge are possibly capable of providing the needed heat and nutrients to support living creatures underneath cold waters.
Such type of sea exploration will also be adapted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in their exploratory quests to Jupiter's Europa.
