Underwater Cameras - Types

Underwater Cameras - Types Underwater Cameras enable you to take nothing but pictures in a marine adventure. Designed specifically for underwater use, these cameras allow you to provide documentation of aquatic creatures, interesting structures, or simply your underwater escapades! Cameras used in Diving can be digital or film-based. A waterproof point and shoot camera can sometimes do the trick, but what if you will be diving more than 50 feet? What Underwater Camera should you use?

A disposable Underwater Camera is easy to use with its point-and-shoot feature. This kind of camera has a fixed lens and loaded film. There is also a reloadable Underwater Camera. It can be used multiple times and is economical, too. Disposable and reloadable Underwater Cameras have fixed lens, leading you to shoot the subject from a recommended distance in order to get well-focused results.

An amphibious Underwater Camera is waterproof, and can be brought underwater without housing. It is very easy to use and is ideal for beginners. It does not have the trappings of different controls, but various accessories can still be added. Moreover, it does not require housing, making it equally convenient. The amphibious Underwater Camera is available in two types: range finder and single lens reflex (SLR) camera. An SLR camera requires you to look through the lens. In using a range finder camera, you do not have to do this because it already has a convenient view finder display.

Housed Underwater Cameras are mostly set inside boxes made of aluminum or plastic. These materials can withstand water, as well as pressure, as you go deeper underwater. The advantages of using housed Underwater Cameras include exactness in composition, control of exposure, variety of lenses, availability of macro shots, and accurate viewing.

Huge, heavy, and prone to condensation on the inside, housed Underwater Cameras can be difficult to use. Aside from these inconveniences, these cameras also have different controls. Therefore, they have to match particular housing types. If you have a number of cameras with varying body dimensions, you need to have different housing types.

Underwater Cameras come in various types. From the convenient yet inexpensive Underwater Cameras to the fancy but functional and durable ones, there is a wide selection to choose from. Determine your needs so you will be able to find the type of camera for you.
