Deep Sea Diving

Deep Sea Diving While most people who go Diving for fun are contented with just taking the plunge in the middle of the sea and enjoying the underwater scenery, some are just itching to go for a deeper adventure.

Deep Sea Diving, by the name itself, means going underwater in a depth greater than what recreational divers usually take. To do it, certain factors are considered such as the diver’s training, deep sea diving equipment and breathing gas.

Open water divers, according to the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), could go deep in the water to a maximum of 18 meters while advanced open water divers have a maximum of 30 meter descent. These maximum depths allowed all depends on your training as recreational diver. If you’re really in for the underwater thrill, earning a deep diving certificate would allow you to go as far as 40 meters down- the maximum depth allowed in Recreational Diving. Breathing gas for Deep Sea Diving also differs from normal modern-day Diving. A special mixture of nine gases is used to prevent sickness that rapid resurfacing from great depths could bring.

Despite these specifics, many divers still want to go deep sea and take their Diving experience to the next level. You could normally sign up in Deep Sea Diving trips offered by Diving resorts and have Diving Charters take care of your equipment, such as your deep sea diving suit and deep sea diving helmet. You could also have instructors guide you through the whole activity. A minimum age requirement of 15 is observed for open water divers and an official open water diver’s certificate is needed to engage in the said activity.

Even though the right training and breathing gas would keep you breathing perfectly underwater, the spectacular scenery way below the ocean would definitely take your breath away. If you dream of having a real nature experience, witnessing the marine life through Deep Sea Diving is literally having the National Geographic at your fingertips. You could appreciate underwater photography and snap away at deep sea fish and coral reef, or simply enjoy being face to face with some of nature’s best offerings.

Among the most popular sites for Deep Sea Diving is the Great Barrier Reef along the Australian Coast. You could easily come across Diving Charters on the web who offer trips to this and many other popular deep sea dive sites. Other sites that top the deep sea list are locations on the South Pacific, the Red Sea, and the Caribbean such as Belize in Central America.
