Boat Diving
If you’ve ever gone tired of swimming meters away from the shore to get to a decent Diving site, then Boat Diving is definitely something you should try.
Unlike shore diving, which is closely related to Snuba Diving (snorkeling and Scuba Diving in one), Boat Diving is basically going onboard a Diving boat from the shore and cruising until you find a desired site to dive in. Once settled on a diving site, you could spend all you energy swimming meters down the water instead of away from the shore. Now that’s something better than tiring yourself by stroking away to the site.
Many divers fancy Boat Diving because of the time spent on the boat. As if hitting two birds with one stone, you get to do your favorite sport and enjoy the ocean scenery as well. Some resorts actually prefer Boat Diving as opposed to shore diving because it is easier for instructors to guide recreational divers from the boat, which is already anchored on the site at the time of dive.
There is no special equipment needed for Boat Diving aside from your usual Diving Gear. The most important requirement for this type of adventure is, of course, the boat- which you will not have trouble finding. There are numerous sites where you can find to own or for rent. You can go from the small and fast 6-person boats for private use, which gives you and your friends just enough space to settle in and put on your gear, or acquire larger boats if you plan to go on big groups. You can also sign up for trips where you will join other enthusiasts who not only enjoy Diving but love cruising the ocean as well.
The best thing about Boat Diving is you can anchor the boat whenever you see a desirable site, especially if you own the boat. Most charter boats, on the other hand, already have an itinerary of which Diving sites to visit, leaving you worry-free. You can just enjoy the boat ride and wait for the next stop to dive in.
Another fun thing about Boat Diving is meeting new people on board. Whether you have a boat you own or rented, or in a charter boat with a larger group of people, you are bound to get acquainted with other divers on the boat, another reason why Boat Diving is becoming more popular these days.
