Getting Scuba Certified

Beginner's Guide - Getting Scuba Certified In general, Diving provides an exhilarating and challenging adventure. However, it will not be the case if you lack proper Diving education and training. It is a complicated sport and things will go nasty and dangerous if you do not have what it takes to go on a dive. This is why anyone is not allowed to go on a dive unless he or she had undergone proper training or Diving course. A Scuba Diving Certification is your rite of passage in the underwater world.

Scuba Diving Certification can be based on your age, Diving skill, purpose, type of training, or the kind of Diving you want to pursue. But we will try to concentrate on the factors that novices need to consider with regards to Getting Scuba Certified.

Age

Generally speaking, anyone can enjoy the wonders of Diving, though you have to consider some factors like age and level of fitness.

Programs and courses are specifically designed for different age groups. For instance, there are programs for children which give them initial preparations and make them accustomed on the basic facets of Scuba Diving. A Junior Open Water Certification is given to children with ages 10-15. Those who are 15 years old and above can be certified Open Water Divers.

Level of Fitness

In this sport, our body will be exposed to a completely different environment, so it is crucial to make sure that our body can keep up to the requirements of Diving. In accordance to the age requirement, you can be qualified if you have good average health. A medical inspection is done especially to those with medical problems to determine if it is safe to take the dive.

Scuba Diving Certification Courses

This section will give you an idea on the basics in getting certified:

  • Dive shops can give you information on Certification courses.
  • Go for a Diving instructor who has extensive experience in Scuba Diving and has been teaching Scuba Certification courses for some time.
  • Introductory sessions will give you a general picture of what to expect on your dive. You will be familiar with the different Scuba Diving Equipment, techniques, and skills.
  • In general, there is no standard number of hours needed in order to get certified. It will be based on how you cope with the skills and techniques taught in the course.
