My ocean dive 6-30-07 went like this:
The boat left at 9am sharp for the Hyde &
Markham. The weather was low 90's and viz was about 50'. Small group
on board (10 women, 6 men). No rush, no cattle boat. Great crew.
First dive Hyde. Water warm...wore a 3 mil wet suit, doubles with
no weights (duh). Beautiful dive with nothing out of the ordinary.
Second dive...beautiful again. Crested over ship from starboard
side into one of the most awesome sites. 1 huge nurse shark,
approximately 30-40 extremely large Tigers everywhere. It was
absolutely beautiful. Watched for 34 minutes of bottom time.
One shark was so interested in me though. Kept following me. I kept
a watchful eye out. At one point he was a foot or two from my face with
his mouth open. I turned onto my side, glided to my left and he lost
interest and glided off to his right. Glad of that...Man, I love diving with sharks.

that was one scary story
the ONLY safety precaution i can suggest is a Cage! But actually, i dont think that ur scuba diving certification even counts. because either way, they say you'd still be given the same training for a cage scuba diving course.

So you want to be safe? Then stay out of the water. Kidding! :D Seriously, go for it!!! you'd be sitting in a cage anyway, so just prepare your diving equipment, reg, mask, and so on...

Yeah yeh, perhaps all you need to know in shark diving is how to perfect the clearing of your reg & mask.. And to be familiar with the attitude of sharks.. I was actually surprised to know that they are very gentle creatures (and that they move really slow).. You'll be safe in tha cage anyway, as long as you maintain respect for these giants!

No worries! Cage diving is easy, they'll orient you anyway before they let u go down. They'll put u at about 20-foot deep (or deeper if u wish to) with the scuba tanks strapped on.. About sharks, well? You'll be amazed when u see them closely for the first time. But it's actually fun seeing them swim with fishes. Really fun! Good luck! Dont forget to take pictures! Haha

ladytrey posted the following on Monday 14th January 2008 ........ what safety precautions should i take before dipping in the water with them?

I heard that if you rub fish oil all over, they really like you. j/k Don't me, please.

then perhaps i could try this too! Ha ha ha i'd apply oil fish all over my skin. If they get to like me, at least i'd get to play with them, right?
But seriously, fear isn't the first factor you should consider.. And yeah, do not forget to take pictures when you're down there with them.. Bring your camera, then you'll be safe! Who knows, they might like to strike a pose for you, right???

Thanks to you all for those words of encouragement. And yes, the biggest advice i'd never forget is to take diving pictures when i'm down there with the sharks. Wish me luck if i get to post the pictures here, then of course, that would mean i survived! Ha ha ha
