it really depends on where you are. in my case, there are very few good deals i can find in my country - philippines - so i have my friends/relatives from the states buy stuff for me. i browse thru the net and give them the url and they do the order.

you should buy your equipment where you can get a warranty so you'd know what to do when things go wrong. try going to ur local stores to compare prices with ebay, then push thru with getting good deals. almost every provider drops their prices during diving shows..have you gone to any shows yet? that would be a really good chance to buy your gear.
however, i also heard that online stores such as SDS and deep blue are great. plus denney! i've purchased some of their items years ago! comes with good support!

i recommend gear rental. it allows to dive in with different brands and models first so you could make your opinions, then eventually settle for what you like. dont hurry in getting all the gear at once. try every item first.
mine are all used! from ebay haha

Support your local dive shop. I have used the same one for almost 20 years now and Mary, the owner, has been able to match or beat almost every internet "deal" that I have seen and by supporting your local shop you are always going to get your warranty supported. When you are buying quality gear that will likely come with a lifetime or limited lifetime warranty there will eventually come a time that the warranty will pay for any extra pennies you had to spend to get peace of mind of owning quality life support equipment.

Yeah!! Because there's a very rare chance that you'll get to deal with online services that can provide good customer service. You'll never know the real deal, since you wont get to personally meet them.
So if you want a top-notch good business to deal with, then it's just right to go to your local shops, right Requiembell?
So perhaps u have other suggestions where the rest of the community can purchase the best gear?
