Pre-Diving Safety Tips

One effective way to ensure a safe, successful, and enjoyable dive is planning, together with a lot of preparations prior to the dive. In this section, take a look at some Pre-diving Safety Tips:

Diving Safety and Guidelines - Pre-Diving Safety Tips
  • Health
Your health must be taken into consideration. Remember that you will be exposed to a totally different environment. Make sure that your body is up for the job.

  • Inspection of Diving Gear and Equipment
This sport is very equipment-intensive, and it is very important to check and ensure that all your equipment and tools are in good working condition. It is much better to find out that something is malfunctioning before the dive than finding it out underwater. You will be in a terrible and dangerous situation should your equipment fails during the dive. Thus, make sure that everything you need works properly.

  • Buddy Check
The Buddy System should be done for safety purposes. This is usually taught to beginners as they undergo Scuba Diving Training. Make sure to know the skill and personality of your Buddy. It is helpful if Buddies are comfortable with each other.

Buddies should stick to the plan that has been agreed upon before taking the dive. They should keep an eye on each other at all times so they will know right away if there is something wrong with one of them.

  • Pre - Dive Briefing
This is an important part of Dive Planning. Pay close attention to the briefing so you will get informed on crucial points such as the various dive conditions, depth of the dive, length of the actual dive, time of ascent, and other things essential in the dive. Make sure that everything is clear to you. Otherwise, air your concerns and questions during the briefing.

As with all adventure sports, planning is definitely important. Keep in mind that Diving Safety is very important and a safe dive will not be attained without proper planning and preparation.
