Diving Masks - Parts and Features
You need a Diving Mask to keep an air space in front of your eyes. That way, you can see clearly underwater. Diving Masks come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and with the aid of technology, manufacturers keep on coming up with new models with modern features and styles which meet the demands of Divers. But no matter how modern Diving Masks can be, it is important to understand how they work, and this can be achieved by knowing the different important Parts and Features of Diving Masks:
- Strap
This keeps the Diving Mask in place. It prevents the Diving Mask from being knocked off.
- Durable glass lens or plate
This creates a flat view or screen for us to see clearly through water. Most Diving Masks have flat lens to prevent light from getting distorted as it passes through water and/or air. But there are modern models which have curved lens.
- Skirt
This is the soft, flexible part that is molded to fit your face. It maintains the air space and keeps water from entering the mask by forming a seal between the lens and your face.
- Nose pocket
This portion allows the Diver to exhale through the nose into the mask.
- Frame
This part holds the lens and skirt together.
Know the essential Parts and Features of the Diving Mask in order to maximize its use when you go on your dive.
