Swimming done underwater with a self-contained underwater-breathing apparatus (scuba), as opposed to Skin Diving, which requires only a snorkel, goggles, and flippers.

Scuba gear was invented by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Émile Gagnan in 1943. Diving clubs formed quickly as the technology became widely available. Scuba Diving is used in oceanography, in underwater exploration and salvage work, in the study of water pollution, and for recreation.


What is Scuba Diving? It is a form of Diving which enables a person to breathe underwater and stay for longer periods through the use of an independent breathing apparatus. The word SCUBA stands for Self - Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

People of almost all ages can enjoy this sport and recreation. There are many Diving Variations that you can try. Some of these are Commercial Diving, Free Diving, Recreational Diving, Cave Diving, Drift Diving, Wreck Diving, and Professional Diving. Each one guarantees a different kind of adventure and experience you will never forget. No matter what type of Diving you are into, you can be assured that it will not only be exciting and fun. It will also be educational since you will get to know the various facets of marine life and underwater world in general.

But before anything else, you must first know and understand the different aspects of Diving. This website covers a very wide range of topics and information which are essential to anyone who is interested in this activity. Some of these points are the History of Scuba Diving, the Physics Principles related to Diving, the various Diving Gear and Equipment which will enable you to breathe underwater and explore the marine world much longer, the numerous techniques and skills, and Diving Safety and First Aid. Since it is done in an environment which is strange to our body, some techniques and preparation are necessary. Though there is a very long 'need-to-know' list for every scuba diving instruction, the experience will surely be well-worth it.
